Loreto
I completed my research on Mulege Real Estate and found myself in Baja Concepcion late on the second afternoon. The weather was not good for relaxing, so I headed south intending to check out what might lie on along the beach between Mulege and Loreto. It got dark before I found anything more, so I just continued south, pulling into Loreto around 9 pm. I found a little hotel and crashed.

In the morning back on track after breakfast on the Malecon. Drove North along the beach. There are million dollar walled compounds and various developments, lots, condos, etc. The one I liked, I followed down and found out the average house is already around $650k+. I found one little house in town between two other houses, 927 sf, for $160K. I then checked out the conventional American Hotel Condo Development, which was 7 miles south of town. It was typical and of little interest to me. Loreto Bay Hotel and Condos...Average price is now up to $350k. 6000 condos planned, all smashed together. Then I pushed south some more and found El Juncalito, a real mexican fishing village with alot of rented spaces for American folks, who know how to rough it, a bit, Trailers under roofs and Palapas with balcony decks, solar power and generators. There I found a couple with medical problems who were selling their spot, very nicely done for 85K. The bay is beautiful. The village full of a colorful mixture of expats and fisherman. Renewable ten year leases, on the land, for around $1500 per year.

Mountains are high and green this year, behind El Juncalito |

El Juncalito is in those hills 17 miles south of Loreto |
Then I noticed a few houses on a hilltop, on the north side of Juncalito, and went exploring. I met Dale and Bonnie building this house with the million dollar view and a group of other completed and uncompleted houses. They were great. They gave me the name of their guy, a bilingual fellow, who turned out to be a key to learning alot of stuff, later, after a four hour, 80 km cat and mouse chase, to catch up with him. |

And here is the whole view...the brick house down to the left might be available but we can not find the owners, at the moment.
